Training Courses
Cresswell Associates and The Royal Agricultural College (RAC) are offering a programme of CPD courses to professional ecologists who want to develop their expertise in areas including field identification for protected species, ecological survey design, legislation, ecological impact assessment and mitigation strategies, in the context of development projects.
External Training Courses
These are professional, stand-alone, accredited courses, generally lasting one day. Successful completion of any course could count towards The Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM)’s annual CPD requirement for ecologists.
The courses also form part of post graduate programme “Applied Ecology for Professionals” delivered by Cresswell Associates and the RAC. Completion of several courses in this programme could lead to a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma, subject to validation.
Two courses will be offered in autumn 2010, with the remainder delivered in 2011. These are An Introduction to Ecological Impact Assessment; and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA)/Appropriate Assessment.
Cresswell Associates have considerable experience in developing and delivering teaching and training courses. This includes: internal CPD training for Cresswell Associates staff; developing training courses for the Bat Conservation Trust; delivering IEEM training courses; providing specialist protected species training for Natural England; teaching an undergraduate module in EIA for the University of Hull; and teaching on M.Sc. ‘Ecology and Management of the Natural Environment’ for the University of Bristol.
The Department for Business Innovation and Skills has recently published guidelines on the new right to request time to train. Employees, employers and the economy all stand to benefit from the new right to request time off work for training that leads to a qualification or helps you develop skills relevant to your job, workplace or business. See: www.direct.gov.uk/timetotrain
The majority of the training courses will be run from our Stroud office with field trips to local destinations.
