Introduction to wildflower identification

A field trip will demonstrate field identification of the plant species that typify unimproved calcareous grassland.

This two-day course provides an introduction to the main groups of grasses and how to identify them, and will include a field trip to nearby calcareous grassland, wetland, woodland and scrub habitats.

Working with soils in habitat creation and restoration schemes

An understanding of soil properties and how soils function is central to the success of habitat creation, restoration and translocation schemes. This course will provide an introduction to soils and their setting in the landscape, discuss soil formation and soil properties and highlight those characteristics of importance when working with soils.
